What the New NDIS Plan Management Reforms Mean for You

The Australian Government has announced changes to how NDIS Plan Management services will operate in the future. While these reforms won't come into effect until 1 October 2027, we've already had questions from participants and providers about what they mean.

The good news is that there are no immediate changes, and it's business as usual for now.

What's Changing?

As part of the NDIS reforms, Plan Management will move from an open market to a commissioned, government-approved panel of providers.

From 1 October 2027, participants who choose Plan Management will need to select a provider that has been approved by the NDIA.

Until then, participants can continue to choose any registered Plan Manager, just as they do today.

Key Dates

Late 2026 to Early 2027
The NDIA is expected to release the application criteria for Plan Managers wishing to join the approved panel.

April 2027
Applications are expected to open, with a six-month transition period allowing existing Plan Managers to apply for inclusion on the panel.

1 October 2027
The new commissioned panel is expected to commence. Participants currently using a Plan Manager that is not on the approved panel will be given a transition period to move to an approved provider.

What Does This Mean Right Now?

For participants and providers, the answer is simple:

Nothing changes today.

You can continue using your current registered Plan Manager, and new participants can still choose any registered Plan Management provider that best suits their needs.

There is no need to change providers because of these future reforms.

Our Commitment to You

At Pacific Plan Management, we've always believed that providing a quality service means doing things the right way.

As a registered NDIS Plan Management provider, Plan Management is our sole focus. We pride ourselves on operating with strong compliance practices, accurate financial management, prompt invoice processing and personalised support.

While the official application process has not yet opened, we have already been preparing for these reforms and reviewing our systems and processes to ensure we're in the strongest possible position when applications become available.

Although no provider can guarantee approval until the NDIA completes its assessment process, we are confident in the work we've done and remain committed to meeting the standards expected under the new model.

Looking Ahead

These reforms are still more than a year away, and further information will continue to be released by the NDIA over the coming months.

In the meantime, it's business as usual at Pacific Plan Management.

We'll continue providing the same personalised service, processing invoices promptly, and helping participants understand their funding and supporting providers every day.

As more information becomes available, we'll keep our community informed so you know exactly what to expect.

If you have any questions about these upcoming reforms or your NDIS Plan Management, our friendly team is always here to help.
