FAQ

  • In short, to join the NDIS, you need to meet the access requirements, such as be 65 years old or younger, be an Australian citizen and have a disability caused by permanent impairment.

The Eligibility Checklist can be accessed on the NDIS website as per the following link:

    https://www.ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis/am-i-eligible

To then apply for the NDIS, get in contact with your Local Area Coordinator or phone the NDIS on 1800 800 110 for support.

  • A plan manager helps you manage your NDIS funding, by receiving and paying invoices from service providers of your choice and providing financial reporting. This is to give participants more control over how they use their NDIS funding and help them to become more independent.

  • It doesn’t!

When you choose Plan Management, you receive an additional allocation of funding within your NDIS plan specifically for Plan Management services. This is separate from the funding for your support and services.

  • The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plan is a tailored support plan for individuals with disabilities. It outlines the support and services an individual needs to achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.

Each plan is unique and designed to provide the necessary funding and resources to assist the participant in various aspects of their life, including daily living, health and well being, education, employment, and community participation.

  • An NDIS plan sets out:

Participant Details: Basic information about you, your disability, and the people or organisations involved in your care.

Your Goals: The short-term aims you’re working towards now and the bigger, long-term goals you’d like to achieve.

Informal Supports: Help you receive from family, friends, or other unpaid networks.

Other Services: Any community programs, health services, or government supports you also access.

NDIS-Funded Supports: The funding you’ve been approved for under each budget category (Core, Capacity Building and Capital) to help you reach your goals.

  • If your personal circumstances change significantly and this affects the supports you need from the NDIS, you can request a plan reassessment at any time by completing the change of circumstances form.

  • There are plenty of benefits to being Plan-Managed, including:

Less admin: We handle invoices, claims, and budgeting.

    • More choice: You can use registered and non-registered providers.

    • Easy-to-understand reports, so you stay in control.

    • Expert support to help you understand and navigate your NDIS plan.

  • If you use a Plan Manager like us, yes!

  • Once we receive an invoice and everything is in order, claims are usually processed within 2–3 business days. But please allow up to 7 days as delays can happen.

  • The support must be directly linked to your disability and plan goals. The support must clearly relate to your disability and help you achieve the outcomes listed in your NDIS plan.

Good Use of Funds – It should offer fair pricing and demonstrate value compared with other available options.

Proven to be Helpful – There should be evidence or established practice showing the support is effective for people with similar needs.

Funded by the NDIS, Not Other Services – The item or service must be something the NDIS covers, not something already provided through mainstream health, education or community programs.

Not an Informal Support – It shouldn’t be something reasonably expected to be provided by family members, carers or your natural support network.

Not an Everyday Living Expense – Day-to-day costs that everyone pays (like groceries or rent) aren’t considered “reasonable and necessary” supports.

The NDIA uses the NDIS Act and operational guidelines to make these decisions, ensuring each support is tailored to your needs.

  • There are 3 types of budgets on your plan:

    1. Core Supports Budget

    2. Capacity Building Supports Budget

    3. Capital Supports Budget

  • A Service Agreement is a simple, written document that outlines the responsibilities of both the participant and the service provider. It helps all parties involved understand what is expected in terms of service delivery, payment, and what happens if expectations are not met.

    A service agreement may include:

    • The services and supports that will be provided

    • The cost of the services and supports

    • When, where, and how you would like the services to be provided

    • The duration of the service agreement

    • When the service agreement will be reviewed

    • The provider’s cancellation policy

    • The responsibilities of both you and your provider under the agreement

Note: Every service agreement is unique and tailored to each participant’s needs.

  • The NDIA recommends having a written service agreement to outline what the participant and the provider have agreed to.

  • While Plan Managers take care of the finances, there are some things we don’t do:

    •  We don’t decide whether a support is “reasonable and necessary.”

    • We don’t confirm or advise which support category a claim should come from.

    • We don’t speak to the NDIA on your behalf about plan changes or approvals.

If you’re unsure about which category a support should be claimed from or whether something is eligible, you’ll need to speak to a My NDIS Contact, your Local Area Coordinator (LAC), Support Coordinator, or contact the NDIA directly. Your LAC or Support Coordinator is also the best person to help explain your overall plan and how your supports align with your goals.

  • The NDIS updates its Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits (previously called the Price Guide) every year — usually on 1 July.

These changes can affect how much providers can charge, the types of supports you can claim, and how services are structured. For participants, this means your Plan Manager will make sure invoices follow the new rules, so you stay compliant and get the best value out of your budget without needing to worry about the fine print.

  • If a provider overcharges or breaches NDIS rules, your Plan Manager can step-in to flag the issue, reject the invoice, and report concerns to the NDIS Commission or NDIA if needed. We make sure that all claims are within NDIS price limits and that the services match what's in your plan. • The NDIS, or National Disability Insurance Scheme, is an Australian government program designed to support people with disabilities. It provides funding for a range of services and supports to help individuals with disabilities achieve their goals, participate in the community, and improve their quality of life.

The NDIS offers personalised support based on each person's needs, which can include assistance with daily living activities, therapy, equipment, and other services. It aims to give people with disabilities more control and choice over the support they receive and to provide a more flexible and tailored approach compared to previous disability support systems.

The scheme is managed by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), which assesses eligibility and helps plan and manage individual support packages.

  • At Pacific Plan Management, we send monthly budget summaries, so you always know where your funds are going. These reports show:

    • How much you’ve spent

    • What you’ve spent it on

    • How much funding remains

We also offer an online portal so you can check your budget in real-time. https://www.pacificplan.com.au/login-portal

  • At Pacific Plan Management, we understand the NDIS rules and guidelines. Every invoice is carefully reviewed to ensure it aligns with your plan goals and the correct funding categories. If we spot something that doesn’t look right or isn’t claimable, we’ll work together with you and your providers to find a solution.

  • In some cases, yes.

We can help you understand what you can claim and which budget category to use.

However, for a more detailed explanation of your overall plan and goals, that’s where your LAC or Support Coordinator comes in—they’re best suited to provide a deeper breakdown of your plan and ensure it aligns with your needs.

  • Your plan includes funding categories that align with your goals. A Plan Manager can assist you:

    • Understand each category

    • Know what supports are included

    • Identify which claims need approval

    • Make the most of your plan’s flexibility

  • Not directly. Plan Managers are not responsible for conducting plan reassessments or reviews — that’s the role of your LAC (Local Area Coordinator) or NDIS Planner.

However, your Plan Manager can provide helpful information, such as budget summaries, spending reports, and invoice histories, which may support your review discussions.

  • The NDIS is tightening its focus on accountability, value for money, and provider compliance — and this includes how Plan Managers operate. You might notice more checks before payments are made, requests for service agreements or quotes, and stronger safeguards to protect your funding. These changes aim to ensure your supports are reasonable, necessary, and aligned with your plan goals.

  • From our point of view we are part of the cycle:

    1. Participants - Ensure you’re within budget and your NDIS finances are managed effectively and efficiently.

    1. Providers - Pay invoices in a timely manner so you can continue to provide great services to participants.

    1. The NDIS - By delivering on our obligations, the NDIS can grow and improve to assist more people.

  • It’s easy!

If your NDIS plan includes Plan Management, simply choose a provider like Pacific Plan Management. We’ll handle the sign-up process and contact your providers on your behalf. You don’t need to notify the NDIS—we’ve got it covered.
